DENTAL IMPLANTS

Regarding your dental health, paying attention to signs indicating you may need a dental implant is important. Here are four critical signals to watch for:

1) You Have an Infected Tooth:

Persistent pain in a tooth can be a sign of a dental infection. If you experience sensitivity, swelling, or pain in a tooth, a dental implant may be necessary to restore the health and functionality of your smile.

2) You Have a Broken Tooth:

A fractured or broken tooth can be painful and significantly affect your ability to chew and speak comfortably. A dental implant can provide a lasting solution and restore the integrity of your smile.

3) You Struggle to Chew Food:

If you have difficulty chewing food due to missing one or several teeth, a dental implant can help you regain chewing ability and enjoy your meals easily.

4) You Feel Insecure About Your Smile:

Tooth loss can have a significant impact on your confidence and self-esteem. If you feel insecure about your smile due to missing teeth, consider a dental implant to restore your smile and your self-confidence.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is an option to replace a missing tooth. In this procedure, a small titanium shaft is surgically implanted into the bone and allowed to set. The bone grows around it forming a tight connection, which additionally slows or stops the bone loss that occurs when the root of a natural tooth is missing. Once the implant is firmly set in the mouth, the dentist then works to attach the replacement tooth onto the top of the shaft. This permanent solution has the advantages over bridge work in that it does not stress the surrounding teeth for support, and, should the tooth wear out, another can simply be replaced on the shaft.

In some cases, implants can be used to attach dentures. Implants have so good look and feel of natural teeth.

Implants can also be used as support as part of an implant bridge. This is an alternative to partial dentures and has several advantages. First, there is no adjustment period to acclimatize the patient who, once the work is done, only feels teeth, not metal supports intruding into the mouth. Second, this slows the bone loss occasioned by missing teeth. Third, there is no discomfort or difficulty in eating. And, best of all, of course, they don't have to be taken out all the time.
